    A message from their Excellencies Myrgan Wood:

    Greetings Mighty Myrg!

    As was announced at Skald the Hall, we will step down as B&B at the end of our term in October. We have a kid now and another on the way. Amya is in university. We want to give the best of our energy to our child(ren) and let the populace have leaders who can give the best of their energy to the barony. We have so many capable leaders around us and look forward to seeing who are chosen as our successors.

    These last four years have been a dream. We have many thanks to offer for the endless support we’ve received and will spend these next months trying to share those thanks with everyone.

    Information for succession, application, polling, and the rest will come from the seneschal in due time.

    If you are curious about baronial service and want to know more, we’d be happy to tell you all about it and help you decide if it’s for you.

  • Heraldic Contingency Deputy needed

    Avacal’s College of Heralds needs a Contingency Deputy Herald for ongoing Kingdom Status. If you are interested, please forward your SCA resume and a letter of application to the current Sanguinaris Herald, Arwyn of Leicester at herald@avacal.org. Please apply by June 30, 2026.

    Contingency Deputy Herald/Red Ram Herald

    Job Description:

    1. The Contingency Deputy Herald will administer the office if the Sanguinaris Herald, for whatever reason, cannot continue in that role.
      • Specifically, the contingency deputy herald will work with the Crown and Kingdom Seneschal to advertise and select a new replacement.
    2. The Contingency Deputy Herald shall not be a spouse/partner of the Sanguinaris Herald.
    3. The Contingency Deputy Herald will report quarterly to Sanguinaris Herald.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong administrative skills including email, spreadsheets, word processing
    • Good working knowledge of governing aspects of the SCA such as corpora, kingdom law and Avacal customs

    What is Curia? Curia is Avacal’s quarterly business meeting, and is where the goings on of the kingdom are discussed. Curia is an excellent opportunity to become informed about upcoming changes and learn what makes the SCA run in between events.

    The DEIB Officer is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of game-facing DEIB initiatives and education.
