Submissions Herald opening

Submissions Herald Position:

We are posting for a replacement for Eirik of Two Ravens who has been the submissions herald and will be stepping down at the end of his term in December. We would like to have a bit of a training overlap and we are looking to have a replacement by November 30 for at least a one month overlap. We will be accepting applications until October 15, 2026.  Please send your letter of application, SCA resume and modern resume to the Kingdom Herald, Arwyn of Leicester (herald@avacal.org); and to Kingdom Exchequer, HL Kaydance Pardus (exchequer@avacal.org).

Although knowledge of heraldry would be preferred, this is primarily an administrative position.  This position takes approximately 15 hours each month and has several key deadlines. The position specifically needs someone who:

• Excellent time management to key deadlines is very important to keep to monthly deadlines for letters through Online System for Commentary and Response (OSCAR) to meet the requirements of the administration handbook (https://heraldry.sca.org/admin.html) and reporting requirements for both the herald and exchequer’s office.
• Can be warranted as an exchequer so they can handle the submissions fees that are received both in person at submissions table or through the mail. Willingness fill out appropriate paperwork with TD Bank to become an official depositor and access to a local TD Bank branch for deposits.
• Has a stable mailing address and willingness to have their address posted on the web so people can send their submissions fees and forms to their stable address.
• Has reliable internet access, a computer and a scanner capable of 300dpi.
• Has an good working knowledge of computer programs like graphics program like MS paint, or inkscape to create electronic submissions and MS Office.   
• Has a working knowledge using online databases such as SAP, Salesforce, Oracle, etc are very similar to  Online System for Commentary and Response (OSCAR) used by the herald’s office.  
• Knows general heraldry or is willing to learn.
